Selections schedule
The custom home selections timeline
Every selection has a deadline: the day the trade that installs it shows up. Missing it means idle crews, rush shipping, or rework — and on a cost-plus build, you pay for all three.
1. Decide early
Lot, foundation type, layout, window and door sizes, and anything that changes the structure or the permit set.
2. Hidden work
Outlet and switch locations, plumbing fixture locations, low-voltage wiring, HVAC, blocking for heavy fixtures — all needed before drywall.
3. Main pieces
Cabinets, appliances, windows, doors, and stairs. Cabinets not picked by drywall can push finishes back by weeks.
4. Finishes
Tile, flooring, countertops, paint, hardware, and lighting fixtures.
5. Upgrades
Optional extras like outdoor kitchens, smart-home features, and specialty rooms.
6. Final checks
Walkthrough items, touch-ups, and verifying what was built matches what was decided.
Keep it in one place
ShackSTAC sorts every checklist item into these six stages across the 57 construction phases, and records who decided each item and when, and who marked it built.
Put every selection and allowance in one shared checklist.
